Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7: Thinner Design, Enhanced Features, and Potential Price Hike?
The rumor mill is churning with details about Samsung's upcoming foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, expected to be unveiled in early July. While some details are still fluid, recent reports suggest significant enhancements and potential price adjustments. Buckle up for a deep dive into the latest leaks and speculation surrounding these highly anticipated devices.
One of the most exciting rumors revolves around the Galaxy Z Fold 7's thickness. Initial reports suggested a slim profile of 4.5mm unfolded and 9.5mm folded. However, a new report from TechManiacs claims Samsung is pushing the boundaries even further, achieving a mere 8.2mm when folded.

If true, this would position Samsung ahead of the competition. To put this into perspective, the Oppo Find N5 measures 8.9mm when folded. Achieving this level of thinness would require significant engineering advancements, building upon Samsung's current best effort, the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, which is 10.6mm thick. This new thinness will be a key selling point for the Z Fold 7.
Beyond the slim design, the Z Fold 7 is rumored to boast a 200MP main camera, similar to the Special Edition. However, the telephoto (3x 10MP) and ultra-wide (12MP) lenses are expected to remain unchanged. The inner display is also projected to increase to 8 inches, up from 7.6 inches on the Z Fold 6, while the cover display will expand from 6.3 inches to 6.5 inches, matching the Special Edition.
On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is slated for improvements to its cover display, increasing from a 3.4-inch folder-shaped panel to a nearly rectangular 4-inch panel. The Z Flip 7 is also expected to be thinner than its predecessor, with a larger battery capacity, growing from 4,000mAh to 4,300mAh. However, don't expect any charging speed upgrades. The camera system is rumored to retain the 50+12MP setup from the Z Flip 6.

Both the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor. A separate Fan Edition of the Flip (Z Flip FE) is rumored to feature an Exynos 2400e processor. While the Z Flip 7 FE was anticipated to launch alongside the Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7, reports suggest a delay until Q4 2025.
Unfortunately, there might be a catch for those eyeing the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Rumors suggest a €100 price increase compared to its predecessor, which launched at €2,000. As for the Z Flip 7, there has been no word about price increases yet.
The potential price hike is already a talking point. Other rumors suggest that the anticipated release may in fact cost the same as the previous model in most regions. With Trump's tariffs in play, the production cost will probably have increased. Only time will tell if the innovative improvements justify the higher cost.
