Nothing’s CMF Phone 2 Pro: A New Standard for Budget Smartphones with a Modular Twist
Nothing's sub-brand CMF is making waves with its latest offering, the CMF Phone 2 Pro. This budget-friendly smartphone aims to redefine expectations, packing impressive features and a unique modular design for under $300. But is it just hype, or does the Phone 2 Pro truly deliver?
Building upon the foundation of last year's CMF Phone 1, the Phone 2 Pro introduces a refreshed design and enhanced features. While it may not receive an official US release, it is available via Nothing's "beta program" with limited support.

A Bold and Modular Design: The phone retains the modular design, enabling users to add screw-in accessories for added functionality and personalization. The lenses are the biggest new addition, offering fisheye and macro options. Accessories like kickstand attachments and lanyards enhance the user experience, though accessory availability may be limited in some regions.
The device comes in four colors: Orange, Light Green, White, and Black, allowing consumers to select one that suits their taste.
However, it's worth noting potential incompatibilities. For example, the lanyard and kickstand case seemingly don't work seamlessly together, as promotional material shows stable ground contact while in reality raising one corner when used together.
Impressive Specs for the Price: The CMF Phone 2 Pro boasts a 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro processor. Storage options range from 128GB to 256GB, with microSD card support for expansion. The phone also includes a 50MP main camera, a 50MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultrawide-angle camera. It is also packed with a 5,000mAh battery to offer long lasting experience.
Software and AI Integration: Running Nothing OS 3.2 (based on Android 15), the Phone 2 Pro offers features like Privacy Space, customizable widgets, and smooth animations. It also includes an Essential Key for quick access to the Essential Space, an AI-powered tool for organizing voice notes, screenshots, and photos.

Don't Forget the Buds: Alongside the Phone 2 Pro, Nothing has also introduced a range of budget earbuds like the Buds 2a, Buds 2, and Buds 2 Plus, that offer varying degrees of sound quality and features.
With a focus on design, functionality, and affordability, the CMF Phone 2 Pro challenges established players in the budget smartphone market. But, is the CMF Phone 2 Pro enough to be your next daily driver, or is it better suited as a secondary device?
