PS5’s Audio Focus: A Game-Changer You Might Be Missing

Audio Focus allows players to boost specific audio frequencies through headphones, enhancing performance in multiplayer games and creating a more immersive single-player experience. Available under Settings > Sound > Volume > Audio Focus, gamers can customize the audio landscape to their liking.

Sammy Barker of Push Square notes that Audio Focus allows voices to stand out over background noise and helps players hear crucial audio cues such as footsteps during intense battle scenarios: find the best settings for you.

The feature boasts multiple presets; these are:

  • Boost Low Pitch: Amplify low-frequency sounds like roaring engines.
  • Boost Voices: Enhance voice chats and character dialogues.
  • Boost High Pitch: Emphasize high-frequency sounds like footsteps.
  • Boost Quiet Sounds: Amplify low-volume sounds across frequencies.

This eliminates the need to do all this manually and is quite accessible because it is integrated directly into the system. Sony is setting a new standard for audio accessibility.

GameSpot highlights how Audio Focus minimizes loud sounds while amplifying quieter ones, evening the playing field between PC (who use Loudness Equalization) and console gamers in titles like Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops 6.

However, they also advise caution, explaining that those with good hearing might find the "strong" setting too intense, and recommends starting with a "weak" or "medium" strength. GameSpot also found the 'Boost Quite Sounds' to be good in games such as Warzone, but its impact wasn't as impressive as using the Boost High Pitch Setting.

The feature is available for headphones connected via USB or analog jack, this new feature ensures that as many people as possible can take advantage of this revolutionary tech.
