Fallout 76’s Big Bloom Event Delayed, New Update Revamps Gameplay

Fallout 76 fans, prepare for both a delay and a deluge of updates! The highly anticipated Big Bloom event, featuring giant, dangerous bugs, has been pushed back to May 6th to ensure a smoother gameplay experience. But fear not, Vault Dwellers, as a massive new update, version 1.7.19.19, has already rolled out, bringing significant changes to core game mechanics.

Buggy.
Buggy.

The delay of the Big Bloom event stems from reported instability during the Mothman Equinox. Bethesda aims to avoid similar issues by deploying a hotfix alongside the seasonal event, ensuring players only encounter the intended in-game bugs, not game-breaking ones. Players will meet Black-Eyed Susan and help her clear their favorite meadow from deadly monsters called Overgrown. After gathering flowers and dealing with the Overgrown threat with some explosive flair, Susan’s archnemesis will appear! Bee-zlebub. The King Bee. Defeat him and claim your rewards!

The April 22nd update introduces a revamp of Challenge Events, rebranding them as Mini Seasons. According to Bethesda, this change aims to make these events more discoverable and reward systems more transparent. Mini Seasons are now accessible directly from the Seasons menu, allowing players to unlock rewards using Season Tickets that carry over between seasons.

Update 1.7.19.19 also brings a plethora of balancing changes affecting armor, combat, enemy AI, and C.A.M.P. mechanics. Limb-crippling builds receive a significant buff, with enemies largely losing their immunity to crippled limbs. Weapon mods that previously offered a 20% cripple chance now increase limb damage by 50%.

Here's a quick rundown of key changes:

  • Challenge Events Refreshed: Now known as Mini Seasons, found in the Seasons menu.
  • Limb Damage Changes: Most enemies no longer immune to crippling; significant limb damage buffs added.
  • Combat Adjustments: Hunting Rifle damage increased; Scorchbeasts won't spam sonic blasts as frequently.
  • C.A.M.P. Improvements: Various fixes to item placement, collision, and functionality.

The update also addresses numerous bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements. Bethesda has clearly listened to player feedback, aiming to deliver a more polished and enjoyable Fallout 76 experience.

With the Big Bloom event on the horizon and a massive update already deployed, Fallout 76 is poised for a vibrant season. Are you excited about the changes? What are your favorite Mini Season rewards? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
