Assassin’s Creed Roadmap: 9 Games in Development, Including Remakes and Multiplayer Titles
The Assassin's Creed franchise is showing no signs of slowing down, with a massive roadmap reportedly spanning the next six years. Recent reports indicate that Ubisoft is planning a comprehensive strategy to capitalize on the brand, offering a diverse range of experiences for players. This includes everything from traditional RPGs to remakes, smaller experiences, and even multiplayer games. But, how exactly does Ubisoft plan to execute such an ambitious plan?
According to Insider Gaming, Ubisoft currently has at least 9 Assassin's Creed games in development. This includes:
- Jade: A mobile game set in China, seemingly the next title slated for release.
- Invictus: A unique Fall Guys-inspired multiplayer spin-off, with potential for five years of post-launch support.
- Obsidian: A remake of the beloved Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, rebuilt in the new Anvil engine and expected around the same time as Invictus.
- Hexe: Described as a 'very different' franchise experience, led by Clint Hocking, and planned for release after Assassin's Creed Shadows' support ends.
- Scarlet: The next major open-world RPG after Shadows, possibly taking place in India, the Aztec Empire, and the Mediterranean.
- Stardust: Another remake in development, though the specific game being remade remains unknown.
- Emerald: Yet another multiplayer title with a five-year support plan, expected to launch close to Stardust.
- RPG 3: Details are scarce, but it's pencilled in to release after Scarlet's support period.
- Remake 3: Another remake planned for release about one year after RPG 3.
The sheer scale of this roadmap is staggering, highlighting Ubisoft's commitment to the Assassin's Creed universe. A key component of their strategy is to release a traditional 'mainline' RPG every 2-3 years, interspersed with smaller experiences and remakes. This approach aims to keep the franchise fresh and engaging while catering to a wide range of player preferences.
While some projects like the Assassin's Creed Netflix game, codenamed Mask, has likely been cancelled, potential release timelines are shifting. Currently Jade is expected to be release first, followed by Assassin's Creed Invictus, and the remake, Obsidian. This is followed by Hexe, Scarlet, Stardust, Emerald, RPG 3, and finally Remake 3.

The reports suggest that Assassin's Creed Shadows is proving to be a success for Ubisoft who appear to be recovering from financial worries. The development of what is called here Assassin's Creed Scarlet could be proof of that.
With such an extensive roadmap, the future of Assassin's Creed looks bright. Ubisoft's commitment to delivering diverse gaming experiences within the franchise should appeal to both long-time fans and new players alike. The ambitious plan includes remakes, Spin off titles, and new entries offering something for everyone.
