New Honkai Game Teased: Is miHoYo Entering the Monster-Collecting Arena?

miHoYo, the studio behind the massively popular Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, has sent the internet buzzing with a teaser for a "brand new Honkai game." The brief glimpse, unveiled during the Honkai: Star Rail Concert 2025 in Shanghai, hints at a potential foray into the monster-collecting genre, sparking comparisons to the behemoth that is Pokémon.

The teaser itself is light on details, showcasing two characters preparing for what appears to be a creature battle. However, the appearance of familiar faces like Kiana (from Honkai Impact 3rd) and Blade (from Honkai: Star Rail) alongside their unique "critters" has fueled speculation that this new title will bring together elements from across the Honkai universe. Several fan theories have also emerged speculating which characters might appear in the game.

Online reactions have been a mixture of excitement and amusement. One commenter on Reddit joked, "What is going on lmao, Kiana and Blade with some funky Pokémon, this looks hilarious." The resemblance to the Pokémon formula – character companions facing off in battles – is undeniable, leading many to wonder if miHoYo is aiming to capture a piece of that lucrative pie.

Adding fuel to the fire, eagle-eyed fans have uncovered potential trademarks and registered social media accounts associated with the name "Honkai: Nexus Anima." While unconfirmed, this could very well be the title of the new game. The fan-run account Star Rail Universe also found that a bunch of Twitter accounts have been registered with that name.

Interestingly, this isn't the only new game in the works at miHoYo. Reports suggest they are also developing a title reminiscent of Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing, indicating a broad strategy to explore diverse genres. Meanwhile, their newest action RPG, Zenless Zone Zero, has recently undergone beta testing, with mixed reactions. Some critics have noted that it feels like something is missing from the overall equation, despite boasting a deep combat system.

With the "brand new Honkai game" still shrouded in mystery, the community is left to speculate about its gameplay, story, and potential release date. Will it truly be a Pokémon-esque adventure within the Honkai universe? Only time will tell.
