Google Trolls iPhone 17 Air’s Rumored Pixel-like Design in Hilarious Video
The tech world is buzzing, and this time it's about a playful jab between giants! Google has released a new video skit under its popular #BestPhonesForever series, directly addressing the rumors surrounding the iPhone 17 Air's potential design similarities to the Google Pixel. The video cleverly mocks the possibility of Apple adopting a design cue pioneered by Google, specifically the camera bar.
Leaked renders suggest that the upcoming iPhone 17 Air might feature a rear camera housing reminiscent of the iconic Pixel camera bar, a design element that has been a signature feature of Pixel phones since the Pixel 6 in 2021. Google's video, titled "Responding to the Rumors," features the animated Pixel and iPhone characters engaging in a lighthearted conversation about the design speculation.

The Pixel character kicks off the discussion by highlighting the rumors, showing a headline that directly compares the rumored iPhone 17 design to a Pixel. The iPhone character responds with mock disbelief, questioning whether it would ever copy a design element introduced by Pixel "years later."
However, the iPhone's playful denial is quickly followed by a reminder of several Pixel-first features that Apple eventually adopted, including Night Mode, widgets, and the Magic Eraser functionality. This serves as a cheeky acknowledgement of Apple's tendency to follow in Google's footsteps – or at least, to arrive at similar design choices independently!
While the video ends with both characters downplaying the rumors and asserting that "rumors are just rumors," the underlying message is clear. Google is subtly reminding everyone that when it comes to innovative design, Pixel often leads the way.

It's worth noting that Apple isn't the only company to draw inspiration from competitors. Google and other Android OEMs have, in recent years, embraced flat-edged phone designs similar to those popularized by Apple. As the saying goes, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery (or, perhaps, just a sign of convergent evolution in design).
What do you think? Does the rumored iPhone 17 Air design resemble the Pixel? Is Google's playful ribbing justified, or is it all just marketing hype? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
