Spotify Enhances User Experience with New Premium and Free Features: Snooze Button, Revamped Queue, and AI Playlist Tools
Spotify is rolling out a host of new features designed to give both Premium and free users more control over their listening experience. These updates aim to enhance playlist management, track selection, and social collaboration, promising a more personalized and seamless music discovery journey.

Premium users are in for a treat with a revamped Queue, accessible via the three lines at the bottom of the Now Playing screen. The updated Queue boasts new controls such as Shuffle, Smart Shuffle (which suggests personalized tracks), Repeat, and Sleep Timer. Spotify will also suggest songs after your queued tracks end, though this can be disabled via Autoplay and Smart Shuffle settings. This ensures that users have complete control over their listening sessions.
Another key enhancement for Premium subscribers is a more powerful Hide button. Tapping it now removes a song from a playlist across all devices, a feature many users have requested for some time. Further, for those moments when you just need a temporary break from a track, Spotify is experimenting with a new "30-day Snooze" feature. This intriguing option removes the song from your recommendations for a month, potentially rolling out to all users in the future. Emma Roth from MUO highlighted that the snooze button caters to users getting tired of songs, offering a novel approach to managing listening fatigue.
All Spotify users, regardless of their subscription status, will benefit from broader improvements across the app. New “Add,” “Sort,” and “Edit” tools are now prominently displayed at the top of playlists, making it easier to customize tracklists, change playlist titles, design custom cover art, and reorder songs to your liking. Edgar Cervantes from Android Authority pointed out that these tools streamline playlist customization for all users.
In select countries like the US, Spotify now allows users to transform their Liked Songs into a playlist. By simply filtering them by genre and tapping “Turn into playlist,” users can quickly curate a fresh mix from their favorite tracks.
The mobile app is also getting a new Create button (+) in the bottom-right corner, providing quick access to playlist creation, collaboration features, and Spotify’s social listening tool, Blend. Premium subscribers gain additional access to Jam for real-time group listening and AI Playlist, which builds playlists with the help of AI. This feature taps into the growing trend of AI-driven music curation, enhancing the user experience.
Spotify has also slightly reorganized its navigation, with Your Library now appearing as the third tab at the bottom of the screen. This change provides a more streamlined access to personalized content and creations.
These updates demonstrate Spotify's ongoing commitment to enhancing user experience and providing comprehensive control over music discovery. By introducing features like the Snooze button and revamped Queue, Spotify aims to keep its platform fresh and engaging for all users.
