While our expert reviews team had reservations about the original Amp, the Ultra streamer proved to be a resounding success. The Amp Ultra aims to capitalize on this success by offering a powerful combination of streaming capabilities and robust amplification.

According to WiiM, the Amp Ultra delivers 100 watts per channel into eight ohms, a significant upgrade from the Amp's 60 watts. The sleek, minimalist aluminum chassis features a carried-over touchscreen, described as "nearly as slick as using a smartphone screen."

At the heart of the Amp Ultra is WiiM's operating system and Home app, providing seamless access to a multitude of music streaming services including Spotify, Amazon Music, Tidal, and Qobuz. The device also supports Google Cast, Alexa Cast, DLNA, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, and Bluetooth, ensuring compatibility with a wide array of devices and platforms. Voice control is also available via Alexa, Google Assistant, and the included WiiM Voice Remote.

"The WiiM Amp Ultra reflects the voice of our community," says Dr. Lifeng Zhao, CEO of WiiM. "Our users wanted more power, refinement, and connectivity, without losing the high-fidelity audio, and we listened."

WiiM product users will appreciate familiar features like automatic room correction, multi-room grouping and control, and EQ customization. The Amp Ultra also caters to TV integration with features like HDMI ARC, Dolby Digital decoding, and a subwoofer output.

Beyond its music capabilities, the Amp Ultra can power up to four passive speakers simultaneously, making it a versatile hub for a multi-channel (up to 4.1) speaker system or dual stereo setups.

Under the hood, the WiiM Amp Ultra boasts impressive specifications, including a 32-bit/384kHz ESS ES9039Q2M SABRE DAC, dual TI TPA3255 Class-D amp chips, and six TI OPA1612 op-amps for low distortion and detailed sound. Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 ensure fast and reliable wireless streaming.

Alongside the Amp Ultra, WiiM is also introducing the WiiM Sound smart speaker and the WiiM Sub Pro subwoofer, expanding its ecosystem of connected audio products. The WiiM Sound offers 100W of output, high-resolution streaming support, and a touchscreen interface. The WiiM Sub Pro features a 250W amplifier and automatic room correction.

The WiiM Amp Ultra, WiiM Sound, and WiiM Sub Pro are all slated for release in Q3 2025, with pricing to be announced later. Will the WiiM Amp Ultra live up to the hype? Only time will tell, but based on its specifications and features, it certainly has the potential to be a game-changer in the streaming amplifier market.
