Leica Lux App Recreates Pro Photographer Greg Williams’ Style on Your iPhone

Leica is bridging the gap between professional photography and smartphone convenience. The latest update to the Leica Lux camera app for iPhones introduces a groundbreaking feature: "Artist Looks." This allows users to emulate the aesthetic of renowned photographers, starting with the iconic style of Greg Williams.

Why is this important? It's a new approach to mobile photography, offering users more than just basic filters. It brings the nuance and artistry of professional photography to everyday iPhone users eager to elevate their images.

Greg Williams' Signature Look: The initial "Artist Look" is crafted in collaboration with celebrated British photographer Greg Williams. Known for his cinematic black-and-white portraits of celebrities like Margot Robbie and Daniel Craig, Williams' style is now accessible to Leica Lux Pro subscribers for $6.99 per month or $69.99 annually. It's also included with the purchase of Leica’s phone grip. The look is inspired by classic Tri-X 400 film, offering a warm, vintage feel through subtle white point adjustments.

How it Works: The Leica Lux app functions as a dedicated camera app, offering both free and paid users a taste of Leica's renowned color and lens science. The app also offers signature "lenses" modeled after iconic Leica lenses like the 50mm f/1.2 Noctilux and the 35mm f/1.4 Summilux. The Greg Williams Look further expands these capabilities.

"I wanted to create a look that feels real – not overdone, not artificial," explained Greg Williams. "No extra sharpening, no effects – just the image and the moment."

Beyond the App: The Greg Williams Look isn't confined to the Leica Lux app. Leica Q3, Q3 43, SL3 and SL3-S owners can download the look directly to their cameras via the Leica Fotos app. Even users of older Leica models with Wi-Fi can apply the filter to JPG files through the Fotos app.

A Nod to the Past, a Step into the Future: Leica's innovative approach allows access to the unique vision of master photographers.

Comparison to Alternatives: While other camera manufacturers offer filters and profiles, Leica's collaboration with a professional photographer sets it apart. It's a novel approach, potentially opening doors for other iconic photographers to share their style.

What's Next? Leica has signaled that the Greg Williams look is just the beginning, announcing future collaborations with other prominent photographers. This could revolutionize how users interact with smartphone photography, allowing them to easily adopt distinct and recognizable styles.

The updated Leica Lux camera app with the "Artist Look" feature is now available on the Apple App Store. A similar update for Leica FOTOapp users is expected soon.
