Apple’s ‘All-Screen’ iPhone Dream: 20th Anniversary Model Set to Arrive in 2027?
For years, Apple enthusiasts have dreamed of an iPhone that's nothing but a seamless sheet of glass. Now, that vision, reportedly championed by former design chief Jony Ive, may finally become a reality. Rumors are swirling that Apple is planning a special iPhone model to mark the device's 20th anniversary in 2027, and it's poised to be unlike anything we've seen before.
According to reports, Apple aims to create an all-screen iPhone, free of bezels, notches, or camera cutouts. This ambitious design involves wrapping the display around all sides of the device and embedding the camera under the screen. This would truly embody Ive's long-held vision of the iPhone as a single, continuous piece of glass.

ET News reports that Apple will soon negotiate with Samsung Display and LG Display to determine the technology needed for this groundbreaking display. The report highlights the development of "4-sided bending display technology" and Under-Display Camera (UDC) technology as key components in achieving the full-screen design.
The journey towards this all-glass iPhone began with the iPhone X, which introduced an edge-to-edge display and a host of other innovations. As we approach the iPhone's 20th anniversary, it appears Apple is ready to take the next leap, completing what the iPhone X started.

But that's not all Apple has in store. Bloomberg reports a significant product overhaul in 2027, including at least two new products and redesigns of the iPhone and Watch lineups. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg suggests one of two major initiatives for the two-decade anniversary is to launch a "mostly glass, curved iPhone" in 2027.
The 2027 lineup could also include Apple's competitor to Meta Ray-Bans, potential foldable iPhone, and new AirPods and watches with cameras.

While the 2027 launch is still years away, and plans could change, the ambition behind this project is undeniable. Apple's design team undoubtedly hopes to deliver the next evolution of the iPhone on schedule, marking the anniversary with a device that's truly revolutionary.
