DJI’s Mavic 4 Pro Faces Turbulence: US Launch Delayed, Pricing Mix-Up Adds to Confusion

The much-anticipated DJI Mavic 4 Pro, a drone boasting significant upgrades, has hit a series of snags, creating a less-than-smooth launch. While lauded as potentially DJI's most versatile drone yet, offering features like a 360-degree rotating gimbal and a 100-megapixel camera, its arrival in the United States is currently uncertain. This news comes alongside an admission from DJI about a pricing error inadvertently provided to the media.

No US Launch in Sight

Despite going on sale in Canada, Mexico, and other regions on May 13, 2025, DJI has confirmed that the Mavic 4 Pro will not be available in the U.S. at launch. A DJI spokesperson cited evolved local conditions and changes in the industry environment as the reasons behind this decision. Furthermore, the company won't honor its limited warranty if U.S. residents purchase the drone outside the country. This exclusion even extends to review units, with DJI confirming that it will not be providing loaner samples to U.S.-based reporters at this time.

Tariffs and Customs Issues Play a Role

When asked about the reasons behind this decision, DJI acknowledged that tariffs are among the key considerations in the current climate of high uncertainty. Further complicating matters is the fact that US Customs is still holding up DJI’s ability to import drones into the country.

Pricing Puzzle

Adding to the launch woes, DJI has admitted to providing incorrect pricing information for the Mavic 4 Pro. Initial reports quoted the drone's price as $2,049, but this was mistakenly listed as Canadian pricing when it was actually the price in USD on DJI’s web store. Actual Canadian pricing is CAN$2,849. DJI has apologized for the confusion.

Mavic 4 Pro: A Drone Packed with Innovations

Despite the launch challenges, the Mavic 4 Pro boasts impressive features. B&H describes it as a premium camera drone having a redesigned 360-degree Infinity Gimbal that brings about creative control while filming aerial footage. It also offers a tri-camera system, with the Hasselblad wide-angle lens capable of capturing 6K/60fps HDR video and 100MP stills. Other improvements include extended flight time to 51 minutes tied with its old Mini 3 model and enhanced low light performance.

New Controller: DJI RC Pro 2

DJI also introduced the DJI RC Pro 2, a new controller designed to enhance the user experience. This device features a 7-inch Mini-LED display, HDMI port, 128GB of storage built-in, and automatically folding joysticks. This accessory can be purchased separately or bundled with more premium kits.

Uncertain Future for US Availability

It remains unclear when, or if, the Mavic 4 Pro will eventually be available in the United States. DJI maintains that the U.S. is an important market and that they are actively exploring every possible solution. However, with ongoing trade tensions and customs issues, the fate of the Mavic 4 Pro in the U.S. remains uncertain.
