‘Baldur’s Gate 3′ Miniatures Debacle: Fans Decry “Abysmal” Quality of WizKids’ D&D Set
The highly anticipated crossover between Baldur's Gate 3 and Dungeons & Dragons has taken an unexpected turn, leaving fans deeply disappointed. WizKids' new miniature set, featuring beloved characters from the hit video game, is being slammed for its shockingly low quality.
What was meant to be a collector's item and a way to bring the virtual world to the tabletop has become a source of frustration and ridicule, with many players calling out the company for delivering figures that barely resemble the advertised versions.
The criticisms range from poor paint jobs and lack of detail to outright deformities, with some figures even arriving headless. Elodie Ceselli, a Senior Cinematic Artist at Larian Studios (the creators of Baldur's Gate 3), expressed her dismay on Twitter, stating that only Gale had "a decent face" and deeming the quality unacceptable for the price. "It's expensive for a 5 years old painting work... Shame on you @Wizards_DnD," she tweeted.
Other players echoed Ceselli's sentiments, sharing photos of their own disfigured miniatures and questioning the quality control. One user exclaimed, "THIS is an official @Wizards_DnD Baldur's Gate 3 miniature! Sold in a set of 7 for $50…Stop giving money to people that don't care about the hobby (or product QA)!"
The backlash isn't limited to social media. Reviews on Amazon paint a similar picture, with customers complaining about the small size, lack of detail, and overall poor value for money. "These minis are absolutely not worth the asking price," one reviewer wrote. "The quality is in the gutter on top of it, none of them really showing the depth I'd expect from an OFFICIALLY LICENSED product."
