As one observer noted, distinguishing between "Deep Think," "Deep Search," "Gemini Advanced," "AI Ultra," and "Gemini in Chrome" can feel like navigating a labyrinth. The sheer volume of AI-related initiatives, each with its own distinct moniker, seems to be contributing to user bewilderment.

In a defense of google, CEO Sundar Pichai acknowledged the “relentless” pace of new product releases. Google faces immense pressure from competitors like OpenAI and Meta to rapidly deploy AI features. This race to innovate may be overshadowing the need for cohesive branding and clear communication.

Despite the confusion, Google’s ambitions are clear. The company is actively working to evolve its Search platform beyond the traditional “10 blue links.” The introduction of "AI Mode" directly into Search, along with agentic AI features designed to assist users with shopping, are prime examples of this shift. As the landscape evolves, Google is betting big on AI agents and smart glasses to retain its dominance in the search arena.
