Nintendo Adds Four Classic Game Boy Titles to Switch Online, Including a Glimpse into Switch 2?
Nintendo Switch Online members just got a nostalgic boost! Nintendo has expanded its Game Boy and Game Boy Color library with the addition of *four* new titles. This update brings a mix of genres, from action-packed shooters to puzzling adventures, promising something for every retro gamer. But could one of these additions offer a hint at Nintendo's future plans?
The new games added to the base tier subscription are:
- Gradius: The Interstellar Assault (1991/92): A Konami side-scrolling shooter that throws you into the heart of intergalactic battles. Prepare to face the Bacterion Beast Squadron in a cookout of destruction!
- Survival Kids (1999): A survival adventure where you must uncover the secrets of a mysterious island, hone your skills, and improvise tools to survive. This title holds a special significance, as it's the predecessor to the "Lost In Blue" series.
- The Sword of Hope (1989/91): An RPG from Kemco where you, as the chosen prince, must save the kingdom from an evil sorcerer and a monstrous dragon. Search for the Sword of Hope and restore peace to the land.
- Kirby's Star Stacker (1997): A puzzle game featuring Kirby and friends. Stack the falling stars and outwit King Dedede in this classic puzzle experience.

Survival Kids is particularly interesting, as a modern multiplayer take on the game is rumored to be a launch day title for the *Switch 2*. Could this seemingly innocuous Game Boy addition be a subtle nod to Nintendo's upcoming console?
Konami's contributions are noteworthy, re-releasing these titles for a new audience. Gradius remains a difficult and entertaining shooter, while Survival Kids takes some patience to learn, the reward is gratifying.
These new additions follow last week's update to the Switch Online + Expansion Pack, which added Rare's Nintendo 64 fighter Killer Instinct Gold. Nintendo continues to expand its retro offerings, pleasing fans and potentially foreshadowing future releases.
