Acer Enters the AI Wearables Arena with FreeSense Ring and AI TransBuds: A Bold Move at Computex 2025

Acer is making a significant leap into the world of AI-powered wearables, unveiling its FreeSense Ring and AI TransBuds at Computex 2025 in Taipei. These new gadgets signal Acer's ambition to diversify beyond traditional PCs and enter the burgeoning market of smart health tracking and real-time communication tools.

The Acer FreeSense Ring is designed as a subscription-free competitor to established players like the Oura Ring. Crafted from lightweight titanium alloy, the FreeSense Ring promises all-day biometric tracking, monitoring heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), blood oxygen levels, and sleep quality.

Unlike some competitors, The FreeSense ring stands out, as users gain full access to all health without any additional subscription fees. While specific details on its sleep tracking capabilities are still emerging, Acer emphasizes that the FreeSense Ring is processed via a companion mobile app and displayed tailored wellness insights and suggestions. It will launch in seven sizes, from 7 to 13.

In comparison, the Oura Ring 4 offers sizes 4 to 15, and the Samsung Galaxy Ring is available in sizes 5 to 15. The FreeSense ring has 50 meters of water resistance compared to the Oura and Galaxy Rings with 100 meters.

On the communication front, Acer's AI TransBuds aim to break down language barriers with real-time translation capabilities.

These compact earbuds connect to a smartphone or tablet via a plug-in receiver and utilize AI-based speech recognition and semantic analysis to provide two-way voice translation and support live capitation in 15 major languages. Acer emphasizes that only one person needs to wear the earbuds for effective translation, making them suitable for conversations, meetings, live streams or online study session

Both the FreeSense Ring and AI TransBuds come from Acer Gadget. While specific pricing and availability details are still under wraps, Acer’s Computex 2025 showcase signals a clear determination to carve out a space in the competitive wearables market. The company also showcased e-scooters, e-bikes, and accessories, highlighting a broad innovation strategy that spans wellness, connectivity, and mobility.
