Acer Unveils a Barrage of AI-Powered Laptops at Computex 2025, Taking Aim at MacBook Air

Acer has stormed Computex 2025 in Taiwan, unleashing a fleet of new laptops designed to cater to gamers, creators, and everyday users alike. Among the most intriguing is the Swift Edge 14 AI, a featherweight contender gunning for the MacBook Air's crown, and the Predator Triton 14 AI, a versatile machine blending gaming prowess with content creation capabilities. With over a dozen new models boasting the latest chips from Intel, AMD, and Nvidia (and even Qualcomm Snapdragon X), Acer is making a bold statement in the portable computing arena. But which of these new devices will resonate most with consumers?

While pricing and availability details for the US market remain under wraps, anticipation is building for the arrival of these innovative laptops. Acer's comprehensive lineup spans across its established series, from the gaming-focused Predator and Nitro lines to the general-purpose Swifts and the budget-friendly Aspires. This broad spectrum underscores Acer's commitment to offering something for everyone, regardless of their needs or budget.

The Acer Swift Edge 14 AI truly stands out. This 14-inch Copilot Plus PC, powered by Intel's Lunar Lake chip options, features a stunning 2880 x 1800 OLED display and up to 32GB of RAM / 1TB SSD. Its svelte profile, measuring just 0.37- to 0.65-inches thick and weighing under 2.2 pounds, allows it to rival even the M4 MacBook Air in portability. Remarkably, Acer has managed to cram in two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A ports, a headphone jack, and an HDMI 2.1 port into this ultra-thin chassis. The expected starting price in Europe is €1,599 (about $1,800), with availability slated for June.

For gamers on the go, the Predator Triton 14 AI emerges as a compelling option. Weighing around 3.5 pounds and measuring just 0.68 inches at its thickest point, this laptop boasts a 14.5-inch 2880 x 1800 120Hz OLED display and a jumbo-sized haptic trackpad that supports an included stylus. Inside, it packs an Intel Arrow Lake Core Ultra 9 288V processor and a GPU up to Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5070, ensuring compatibility with Nvidia Studio drivers. However, this level of performance comes at a premium, with a starting price of €2,999 (approximately $3,350) upon its European launch in July.

One of the most interesting features of the Triton 14 AI is its glassy, haptic touchpad which also works with a stylus. Acer hasn’t revealed pricing for the Triton 14 AI or when we can expect it to hit store shelves. It supports AES 2.0, USI 2.0, and MPP 2.5 protocols, which encompass the majority of digital pens that work across capacitive touchscreens and pads.

Additional laptops joining the fray include the Aspire 14 AI / 16 AI, configurable with AMD, Intel, or Qualcomm chips; the Swift Go 14 AI and Swift Go 16 AI, the more affordable options in the Swift line; and the Predator Helios Neo 14, a budget-friendly entry in Acer's flagship gaming range.

Acer is also introducing a range of new monitors, including a pair of 27-inch QD-OLEDs.

Acer's aggressive launch strategy underscores its ambition to dominate the laptop market. While US pricing and availability remain to be seen, the sheer variety and innovation on display at Computex 2025 signal an exciting future for Acer and its customers. Will the Swift Edge 14 AI truly challenge the MacBook Air? Can the Predator Triton 14 AI strike the perfect balance between gaming and creativity? Only time will tell.
