Apple Music vs. Spotify: New Import Tool Arrives as Spotify’s Exclusive Features Tempt Users
The battle for music streaming supremacy is heating up! Apple Music has just launched a new tool designed to make it easier for users to switch from Spotify and other services. But is it enough to sway loyal Spotify users who enjoy features Apple Music can only dream of?
For years, music lovers have been locked into ecosystems, hesitant to leave their carefully curated playlists behind. Now, Apple Music is offering a solution. An updated support document reveals that a feature allowing users to import playlists and music libraries from Spotify and other services is rolling out. This feature, initially spotted in beta testing in February, is now live on iPhone, iPad, Android devices, and the web.

According to Apple, the transfer tool is powered by SongShift, a third-party service that allows users to migrate their music libraries between different streaming platforms. While Apple is partnering with SongShift, the transfer functionality is integrated directly into the Apple Music app. This integration allows for the transfer of songs, albums, and playlists from services like Spotify, although the specific transferable content may vary.
Currently, the feature appears to be live in Australia and New Zealand, hinting at either an expanded test or the beginning of a global rollout. To initiate a transfer on an iPhone or iPad, users can navigate to the Apple Music settings within the Settings app and select the "Transfer Music from Other Music Services" option.
However, Spotify isn't standing still. Despite Apple Music's advancements, many users remain loyal to Spotify due to its exclusive features. One of the most coveted features is Spotify's AI DJ, which offers personalized music recommendations that many users find superior to Apple Music's personal station.
Other features that Spotify users enjoy include blending playlists with friends for shared music experiences, a streamlined app experience across multiple platforms, and the ability to scan QR-style codes (Spotify Codes) to easily share songs and playlists in real life.

While Apple Music offers perks like Dolby Atmos with Spatial Audio and Lossless support, Spotify still holds a significant edge in terms of overall user experience and exclusive features. Could Apple Music's new transfer tool be the game-changer it needs to attract new users? Or will Spotify's unique offerings continue to hold its audience captive?
