Assassin’s Creed Shadows Collides with Dead by Daylight in Unexpected Crossover Event!

Get ready for a surprise! Assassin's Creed Shadows just dropped update 1.0.5, and it's packed with more than just bug fixes. The update introduces a mind-blowing crossover with the horror game Dead by Daylight, alongside a quirky collaboration with the indie hit Balatro, and significant parkour enhancements that players have been clamoring for.

The update arrives May 27, 2025 and is set to redefine gameplay in Feudal Japan. Let's dive into what makes this update so special.

Unexpected Allies: Assassin's Creed Shadows and Dead by Daylight Join Forces

Dead by Daylight Enters the Fray

Naoe, one of the protagonists of Assassin's Creed Shadows, will be facing a new, terrifying challenge. A free Dead by Daylight-inspired quest tasks players with investigating a strange presence that's been terrorizing the people of Harima. As the patch notes detail, players will need to "master unique mechanics and confront a formidable otherworldly threat" to succeed. Conquer this terrifying quest and reap the rewards -- a free trinket and banner to show off your bravery.

But that's not all! Dead by Daylight-inspired cosmetics can be found in the game store, to truly immerse yourself in the crossover goodness.

A Winning Hand with Balatro

The surprises don't end there. Indie sensation Balatro is also making an appearance, with a Balatro-inspired trinket for Naoe and an amulet for Yasuke called the "Winning Hand". These items come with a legendary perk that grants a chance to trigger a random affliction effect on combo enders. Finding these items, however, may require some collaborative effort; Ubisoft challenges players to "work together to figure out how to get it!"

Parkour Reimagined

But it's not all about crossovers and cosmetics. Update 1.0.5 also brings much-needed improvements to the parkour system. Fans who love exploring the rooftops will celebrate a new vertical jump option, allowing Naoe and Yasuke to grab ledges and awnings without needing to rely on wall-runs. Sprinting mid-parkour is also being improved. Sprint will no longer disengage when parkouring up or down, ensuring more fluid movement through the environment.

More Freebies and Fixes

Adding to the list is the unlocking of the pre-order quest, "Thrown to the Dogs," for all players, which rewards a loyal canine companion, Tsuki-maru, that can be placed in your hideout. Furthermore, a host of bug fixes across every inch of the game have been implemented. Some specific updates for the game are the addition of new photo mode features as well as balancing changes.

What's Next for Assassin's Creed Shadows?

This update is part of Ubisoft's Year 1 roadmap, which includes new game plus, additional free story content, and the Claws of Awaji expansion. This collaboration highlights Ubisoft's commitment to keeping the game fresh with unexpected and exciting additions.
