Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Ubisoft Unveils Ambitious Post-Launch Roadmap with Free Updates and Expansion

Ubisoft has revealed a comprehensive post-launch roadmap for Assassin's Creed Shadows, promising a wealth of new content and updates to enrich the experience for players. This announcement arrives on the heels of the game's launch, which has been met with positive reception from both fans and critics.

The roadmap, detailed in a video released on April 30th, outlines a series of free updates, including regular "Story Drops" that will introduce new quests, abilities, activities, and deeper insights into the backstories of beloved side characters. The initial Story Drop arrived in early May, setting the stage for continued narrative expansion.

For parkour enthusiasts, Ubisoft is significantly enhancing the game's movement mechanics with an update slated for late May. This will feature height-gaining back-ejects, re-animated height-gaining side-ejects, and a brand-new parkour move known as the Vertical Ledge Jump, enabling characters to grab low overhangs without needing a wall. More parkour tweaks and additions are planned throughout 2025.

Ubisoft is also prioritizing community feedback, implementing updates based on player suggestions. These include options to toggle various in-game filters, visual effects, and even character headgear during cutscenes.

The first paid expansion, "Claws Of Awaji", is scheduled for later this year, likely sometime after June. This expansion will introduce a new region to explore and a new weapon for Naoi: the bo staff.

"Claws of Awaji" will continue Naoe and Yasuke's story directly after the game's epilogue and introduce Awaji Island, adding approximately 10 hours of content to the game. Ubisoft initially offered the expansion as a pre-order bonus but has yet to announce the price for others.

Furthermore, free Story Drops will roll out regularly, starting in May with "The Works of Luis Frois," featuring the historical Portuguese missionary in Japan. These drops inject deeper storytelling and enrich existing alliances.

Beyond content updates, quality-of-life improvements include auto-follow for the horse, additional parkour options, and adjustments based on community feedback. Players can also anticipate larger features such as a New Game Plus mode with increased level caps and adjustable difficulty settings for both stealth and combat, elevating the challenge.

With an Assassin's Creed game set in feudal Japan drawing fan fervor since the series' origins, Assassin's Creed Shadows transforms dreams of immersive lore and samurai stealth into reality. It's a promising commitment to continuing content with a solid focus on community appreciation.
