Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Rumors: Battle Pass Paywall for LTMs Sparks Controversy
The next installment in the behemoth Call of Duty franchise, Black Ops 7, is already generating buzz, but not all of it is positive. A major leak suggests Activision might be planning a controversial change to the game's Battle Pass, potentially locking Limited-Time Modes (LTMs) and high-value rewards behind a paywall. This has sparked debate within the community about the future of content accessibility in the game.
According to prominent leaker TheGhostOfHope, Black Ops 7, expected to be a direct sequel to Black Ops 2 set in 2035, will feature more extensive seasonal LTMs. However, unlike previous iterations where LTMs were free for all players, accessing these modes in Black Ops 7 might require owning the Battle Pass.
"Black Ops 7 will reportedly have more seasonal LTM’s and some of them would be considered ‘higher value’ with unique rewards and different game mechanics/modes but the only way to play the LTMs will be to have the battle pass unlike how it’s currently free for everyone," the leaker stated on X.
This potential shift has raised concerns about fairness and accessibility, particularly for players who traditionally skip the Battle Pass. The rumored change would essentially force players to spend money to experience all the content the game has to offer.
Furthermore, the leak suggests that premium cosmetics, crossover operators, and other exclusive loot, previously obtainable through Premium Event Tracks, will now be reserved for Battle Pass holders.

It's worth noting that these details are still unconfirmed. While leaks provide a potential glimpse into the future of Call of Duty, it's essential to treat them with skepticism until officially announced by Activision or Treyarch.
The game itself is rumored to feature a campaign picking up where Black Ops 2 left off, with the return of characters like Alex Mason and Frank Woods, 4-player co-op, and an open-world map called “Avalon.” Multiplayer is said to be expanding with massive 32v32 matches and the return of the Pick 10 system. Zombies mode is also expected to be significantly enhanced.
If the Battle Pass changes prove accurate, they could represent a fundamental shift in how Activision monetizes Call of Duty content. With reports that Black Ops 7 might be priced at $80, the potential for paywalled LTMs has further fueled the debate.
