Capcom Fighting Collection 2 KOs the Competition: Famitsu Sales Reveal Strong Debut in Japan

The latest Famitsu sales figures are in, and Capcom Fighting Collection 2 has landed a solid punch in its first week on the Japanese market. While Nintendo Switch continues its reign as the hardware king, the debut sales of Capcom's retro brawler compilation are worth noting.

According to Famitsu's data for the week of May 12th to May 18th, 2025, Capcom Fighting Collection 2 sold 7,801 units on Nintendo Switch and 4,184 units on PlayStation 4, totaling 11,985 retail copies sold. This marks a strong start for the collection, bringing together eight classic fighting games from Capcom's rich history.

But what makes this collection so appealing? It's not just nostalgia. Capcom Fighting Collection 2 offers a diverse roster of titles, including:

  • Capcom vs. SNK: Millennium Fight 2000 Pro
  • Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001
  • Hyper Street Fighter II
  • Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix
  • Pocket Fighter

And many others! The collection not only includes the Japanese and International versions of each game, but also features improved modes to enjoy them in. The collection allows online fighting, a music player to listen to old tracks, and museums that collect all of the concept art and planning designs.

The collection gives options to newcommers as well! Offering adjustable difficulty levels, the game is friendly for those looking to get into the 2D fighting game space.

On the hardware front, Nintendo Switch OLED led the pack with 14,460 units sold, followed by Switch Lite with 7,924 units. The PlayStation 5 family combined for 6,546 units, while the Xbox Series family reached 1,382 units.
