Eta Aquariids Meteor Shower: Halley's Comet's Legacy

The Eta Aquariids, derived from the debris of Halley's Comet, are expected to peak between May 5th and 6th. While the Southern Hemisphere gets the best view, those in the Northern Hemisphere can still catch up to 10-15 meteors hourly under the right conditions. Look for fast-moving meteors with glowing trails in the pre-dawn hours.

May 2025 offers exciting meteor showers, including the Eta Aquarid meteor shower, which will light up the skies with stunning streaks of light, particularly in the early mornings.

This means that the moon is at apogee, its farthest point from the Earth for its orbit It will appear slightly smaller and dimmer than the average full moon. Regardless, the golden moonlight will create a beautiful scenery as it rises in the east.
