DAVY x JONES: Doom Meets Pirates in This Intriguing FPS

Polish developer PARASIGHT, known for their unique title BLACKTAIL, has just announced DAVY x JONES, a new first-person shooter (FPS) that blends the gritty action of Doom with the fantastical world of pirates. The burning question on every gamer's mind: Can this unusual mix deliver a truly unforgettable experience?
In DAVY x JONES, you play as the infamous pirate Davy Jones himself. But this isn't your typical pirate story. Betrayed, robbed, and even beheaded, Jones finds himself trapped in The Locker, a surreal pirate underworld. To escape and exact revenge on the treacherous Blackbeard, Jones must form an unlikely alliance... with his own skull!
"We're beyond excited to finally unleash DAVY x JONES upon the world," said Bartosz Kaproń, CEO and Creative Director of PARASIGHT. "At PARASIGHT, we believe great stories should hit as hard as the action—and in DAVY x JONES, they literally do. We split our protagonist in two—his skull and his body—and threw them into the pirate underworld to fight their way back to legend. It’s our wildest journey yet, packed with surreal adventure, larger-than-life characters, and just enough surprise to keep things fun."
Imagine wielding a sword, firing a gun, and using a grappling hook, all while your own severed head cracks jokes and offers guidance. That's the core gameplay loop of DAVY x JONES. According to the developers, The Locker is divided into nine distinct islands floating in an endless sea of clouds. Players will encounter horrifying monsters, cursed souls, and legendary creatures such as the Kraken.
Adding another layer of intrigue, the game introduces Abby, a unique character described as a half-ship, half-whale. Abby serves as Jones' mobile base, complete with the ability to recruit legendary officers to crew her and unleash devastating cannon attacks in combat. The trailer hints at ship-vs-monster battles, leaving players curious about the extent of naval combat.
A risk-versus-reward system adds further tactical depth. Defeated enemies drop Underworld Essence, which can be merged into treasure chests containing powerful loot. However, opening these chests unleashes unpredictable fiends, forcing players to weigh the potential benefits against the dangers.
While no specific release date has been announced, DAVY x JONES is slated to launch on PC and consoles. A Steam page is already live, allowing eager fans to add the game to their wishlists.
