Destiny 2: Edge of Fate Expansion Details Leak, Revealing Release Date and New Content

A flurry of leaks has hit the gaming community, revealing key details about Destiny 2's upcoming Edge of Fate expansion and the broader Year of Prophecy content plan. Just ahead of Bungie's scheduled reveal event, information has surfaced from various sources, including the PlayStation Store and Bungie's own online store, creating a buzz among players eager for new content.

The most significant leak comes from the PlayStation Store, where an advertisement for the "Destiny 2: Year of Prophecy Ultimate Edition" prematurely showcased visuals of Guardians wielding new weapons. One Guardian's glowing energy sword, reminiscent of a lightsaber, immediately captured attention, sparking speculation about a new weapon type in the Edge of Fate expansion. Meanwhile, another Hunter wields a blaster reminiscent of Han Solo's DL-44, fueling further excitement.

This leak confirms the existence of both the Edge of Fate and Renegades expansions, aligning with earlier information from the Bungie Store's Collector's Edition listing. The clear icons displayed at the bottom of the ad add weight to this confirmation. The Edge of Fate expansion is currently slated to launch on July 15, 2025, although a release window for Renegades remains unconfirmed.

Further details emerged from a premature listing of the Collector's Edition on the Bungie Store, revealing that "Renegades" is the official name for the expansion previously codenamed "Behemoth." The Collector's Edition includes a Guardian statue, lore papers, a metal badge, and both digital and physical items.

The listing also indicates that Edge of Fate will take players to Kepler, a desert-focused planetoid on the edge of Sol. Details surrounding this new location continue to surface as fans try to piece together its connection with the 16th century astronomer Johannes Kepler, from which the planets are named; yet, the location seems to be something completely different.

While the leaks have excited the player base, potential conflicts remain regarding the timing of the new raid. If the raid follows previous release patterns, it may coincide with the GCX event, potentially creating a scheduling dilemma for players.

The question that remains is: How will Bungie respond to these leaks, and what surprises await players in the official reveal? What do you think so far? Do the new weapons and location sound interesting? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
