Destiny 2: Massive Leak Reveals ‘Edge of Fate’ and ‘Renegades’ Expansions, Collector’s Edition, and Release Date Speculation

A major Destiny 2 leak has set the gaming community ablaze, revealing key details about the upcoming 'Year of Prophecy' content, including the names of two new expansions: 'Edge of Fate' and 'Renegades'. This leak, surfacing just before Bungie's official reveal scheduled for May 6th, has unveiled content from a prematurely published Bungie Store listing, offering a sneak peek at what Guardians can expect.

The leaked information centers around the Destiny 2: Year of Prophecy Collector’s Edition, priced at $275. The listing, briefly available on the Bungie Store, divulged details ranging from expansion names to digital and physical items included in the edition.

While 'Edge of Fate' was already known, the leak confirms the name of the second expansion, 'Renegades' (previously codenamed Behemoth). The Collector's Edition bundles both expansions, season passes, exclusive in-game rewards, and limited-time items.

The physical collectibles are particularly noteworthy. The Collector’s Edition boasts a 1/8 scale statue of the three Guardian classes (Warlock, Hunter, Titan) posed during their Super abilities. Other physical items include a manila envelope with classified papers tied to the story content and a heavy metal badge.

Here's a breakdown of the Collector's Edition contents:

  • 1/8 scale statue of Guardian classes
  • Manila envelope with classified content
  • Stranger’s metal badge
  • Code for exclusive Destiny 2 emblem “Paradoxical Impression”
  • Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate Original Soundtrack (Digital)

The leak also hinted at new story elements, including a mysterious location called Kepler for the 'Edge of Fate' expansion. The official description teases, "An invitation to a planetoid on the edge of Sol reveals a singularity...Kepler holds many mysteries."

Perhaps the most significant revelation is the potential release date for the 'Edge of Fate' expansion: July 15, 2025. This date aligns with the expected arrival of physical items from the Collector’s Edition.

Adding fuel to the fire, fans have noticed that the current Episode, Heresy, ends on July 15th, further supporting the speculation. Bungie, however, hasn't officially confirmed this date.

The timing of this leak coincides with Bungie’s upcoming livestream on May 6th and the launch of a limited-time event called Rite of the Nine. This event will introduce new rewards and a dungeon-based activity, potentially tying into the Nine’s involvement with the 'Edge of Fate' expansion.

The community is buzzing with excitement and anticipation, eager to learn more during the official reveal. The switch to alternating small and large expansions instead of Episodes is also generating conversation. While some welcome the change, others remain cautious about the narrative delivery and player engagement.

Given that the current Episode ends on July 15th, it could be assumed that the expansion may launch the following day. Bungie has not confirmed this yet. The clearest suggestion so far could be the Rites of the Nine itself, as a Nine-themed event feels like the perfect tie-in to a Nine-led expansion.
