Elden Ring Nightreign: Customize Your Tarnished with Outfit Changes and Solo Expeditions
Elden Ring Nightreign, the multiplayer spin-off of the critically acclaimed Elden Ring, introduces fresh ways to personalize your character and tackle challenging expeditions. While the original game allowed extensive armor customization, Nightreign takes a different approach with fixed character classes, prompting players to purchase full outfits, known as “garbs,” to stand out. This guide dives into how to unlock these outfits and how to play solo expeditions in the game.

Unlocking and Changing Outfits (Garbs)
The journey to changing your outfit in Elden Ring Nightreign requires dedication. Players must first complete two full expeditions. Given the game's brutal difficulty, this could take several hours, demanding skill, luck, and a competent team. Once this milestone is achieved, the “Change Garb” feature unlocks in the menu, granting instant access to the outfit-changing interface. Alternatively, players can find a mirror on the east side of the Roundtable Hold, though using the menu option is far more convenient.
Upon unlocking the feature, players initially have access to three outfits per character: the default skin and two purchasable skins, Dawn and Darkness, obtainable using Murk, the in-game currency. Additional outfits become available later in the game, offering further customization options as players progress.

Playing Solo Expeditions
While Elden Ring Nightreign defaults to multiplayer mode with randomly selected players, playing solo is not only possible but straightforward. From the Roundtable Hold, players can approach the expedition table and access the expedition interface. Switching from the “Target” tab to the “Matchmaking Setting” tab allows players to define a password for inviting friends or, more importantly, to change the “Expedition Type” to Single player.
The game remembers this setting for future expeditions until altered. If a multiplayer expedition is accidentally started, it can be canceled before matchmaking completes through the same interface.

Offline Play
For those preferring complete isolation, playing in offline mode is an option. Navigating to the System settings tab and selecting “Network” allows players to switch to “Play offline.” However, expedition settings still need adjustment within the expedition menu to ensure single-player mode. The game will alert players attempting to start a multiplayer expedition while offline.
More Skins Await
As you advance, unlock additional skins to further personalize your character. Initial skins like Dawn and Darkness are just the beginning. By defeating the final boss, players can unlock the ability to purchase even more skins, often inspired by classic characters from the Soulsborne series. These skins are purchased with Murk, earned through expedition completion or by selling relics. Remembrance skins, obtainable by completing all chapters of a character’s Remembrance quests, offer another avenue for customization without spending Murk.
Elden Ring Nightreign offers a blend of challenging gameplay and personalization options. Whether you prefer the camaraderie of multiplayer or the solitude of solo play, the game allows you to tailor your experience.
