Elena’s Return: Story in Street Fighter 6 Rooted in a Crazy Akuma Photo, Gameplay Trailer Drops!
Street Fighter 6 fans, get ready! Elena, the beloved Capoeira fighter, is making a grand return, and her story is surprisingly connected to a seemingly random photo. But that's not all – a new gameplay trailer showcases her updated moves and mechanics, promising a fresh experience for both veterans and newcomers.

For years, fans have debated the canonicity of character endings in the Street Fighter franchise. Remember M. Bison conquering the world or Ryu and Ken joining Hugo's wrestling army? While entertaining, these scenarios were often considered 'what if' moments. However, Elena’s ending in Ultra Street Fighter 4, where she snaps a photo with Akuma, is different. According to Capcom, this seemingly whimsical photo is actually the foundation for her Street Fighter 6 storyline.
"In Street Fighter 6, after an intense fight with her friend Akuma, she travels the world once again in search of the meaning of a lesson that Akuma teaches her," Capcom revealed. What that lesson entails remains a mystery, but considering Elena’s primary motivation is making friends, the possibilities are intriguing.
Elena's journey has been fraught with mystery. In Ultra Street Fighter 4, her father tasked her with investigating strange occurrences linked to the S.I.N. tournament. While she defeated Seth, the bringer of death, clarity was scarce. Street Fighter 3 offered little more substance, with developers struggling to find background information on the character. As producer Tomoshi Sadamoto confessed, lacking internet resources, they relied on travel videos for inspiration.
But the story is here, Street Fighter 6 unveils Elena's renewed purpose. Even Gill and The Illuminati story plots are still active in Street Fighter 6.

Speaking of action, Capcom just released Elena's **official gameplay trailer** for Street Fighter 6, showcasing what the last DLC character of Season 2 can really do. After a decade on the sidelines, this Capoeira fighter is back with a vengeance.
The trailer reveals that Elena appears to have retained all of her special moves from Ultra Street Fighter 4. Look out for Scratch Wheel, Rhino Horn, Mallet Smash, Spinning Scythe, and Lynx Tail. But she's also got some new tricks up her nonexistent sleeves, including a potential stance move to evade projectiles. Her Level 1 Super is probably Spinning Beat while her Level 2 is from Ultra Brave Dance! Her level 3 Super and level 2 heal are brand new.
Elena is set to launch on June 5, same as the Street Fighter 6 Years 1-2 Fighters Edition release to Nintendo Switch 2.
