Final Fantasy Meets Magic: The Gathering – A Nostalgic Collaboration Arrives!
Get ready, gamers and card collectors! The highly anticipated collaboration between Final Fantasy and Magic: The Gathering is set to launch on June 13, 2025, and the hype is real. This iconic crossover promises a blend of nostalgia, strategic gameplay, and stunning artwork, bringing together two beloved universes in a way fans have only dreamed of.
The collaboration has been revealed a set of three new cards from the Magic: The Gathering – FINAL FANTASY set: Battle Menu, Combat Tutorial, and Fight On!

Battle Menu is a beautiful card featuring characters from Final Fantasy VI, including Relm, Cyan, Gau, and Terra battling the Humbaba boss. The card description directly recreates the game’s battle menu, with familiar options like Attack, Ability, Magic, and Item, offering players the power to change the game.

The Combat Tutorial card brings humor to the game, showcasing a comedic scene from Final Fantasy X where Lulu tutors Tidus. This card captures the game's lighter moments, reminding players that it's not always about serious boss battles. This card is a reference to one of the earliest battles in Final Fantasy X. Tidus is fighting a Water Flan in Besaid and laughing because it takes zero damage from physical attacks, with Lulu facepalming in the background.

Finally, Fight On! perfectly encapsulates the spirit of endurance, friendship, and courage that defines Final Fantasy. Aerith is healing Yuffie with a Cure spell while Cloud battles the Materia Keeper. The card shares the quote: “Just hang in there! Someday we’ll look back at these hard times and laugh.”

Beyond the exciting card reveals above, the set also features moments of emotional weight, as showen by The Papalymo Totolymo card from FF14. This card showcases the death of Papylmo when he sacrifice himself to cast the same spell to stop a man from attacking, his card has an ability that reads: “Pay 4, Tap, Sacrifice Papalymo Totolymo: Each opponent who lost life this turn sacrifices a creature with the greatest power among creatures they control.”
While some fans may be disappointed with the card selection, the MTG Final Fantasy collection promises to deliver a truly unique and immersive gameplay experience.
