Galaxy Z Flip 7 Set to Revolutionize Foldable Design with Bigger Cover Display, Leaks Confirm
The upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 is generating significant buzz, and recent leaks suggest a major design overhaul centered around a larger cover display. This marks a potential shift in Samsung's approach to foldable phones, aiming to enhance user experience and compete more effectively with rivals like Motorola.

Initial reports hinted at minimal design changes for the Z Flip 7, but these were quickly revised. Now, evidence pointing to a significantly larger cover display has emerged, primarily through leaked One UI 8 firmware. Animation files within the firmware showcase the Z Flip 7 sporting a design reminiscent of the Motorola Razr Plus, known for its expansive external screen.
According to a corrected report from Android Headlines, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 could feature a 4-inch cover display that almost completely covers the device's front, incorporating cutouts only for the two cameras. This would be a substantial upgrade from previous models.
The leaked One UI 8 firmware analysis, conducted by Android Authority, further solidified these claims. Icon-like renders within the firmware depict the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Flip 6 with similar designs, while the Galaxy Z Flip 7 displays a drastically larger cover display that extends to the edges and surrounds the cameras. Samsung’s official app now effectively confirms this major update.

Beyond the cover display, other specifications are expected to remain consistent with the Z Flip 6, including a 6.8-inch inner display, a 50MP primary camera, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. While Samsung pioneered the foldable phone category, innovation has seemingly plateaued in recent years. This design change could reignite interest and competitiveness.
Interestingly, the Motorola Razr (2025 edition) is also making waves as a compelling alternative in the foldable market. CNET's early impressions highlight its vibrant color options, comfortable design, and the functionality of its cover screen. Priced at $700, the new Razr aims to be a breath of fresh air compared to standard rectangular phones in the same price range. It offers unique features like half-folded modes for video calls and Moto AI integration.
Motorola cited that 25% of its customers are coming from iPhone. And even though this year's base Razr is a refinement of last year's Razr design, it's one that remains eye-catching.
With the anticipated launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 7 in July, the foldable phone landscape is heating up. Will this design change be enough to reclaim Samsung's innovation crown? How will the enhanced cover display impact user experience? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
