Google Search App’s New ‘Activity’ Tab: Your Digital Footprint, Simplified!
The Google Search app on Android has just received a significant update designed to make managing your digital footprint easier than ever. The newly rolled out 'Activity' tab replaces the 'Saved' tab and offers a streamlined way to access your search history, saved items, and collections. Here’s why this matters and what you can expect.

What’s new?
Located at the bottom bar alongside Home, Search, and Notifications, the 'Activity' tab is organized into three intuitive sections: History, Saved items, and Collections, revealed Alphabet on Sunday, May 25, 2025. Let's break down each one:
- History: Displays your four most recent searches and any websites you’ve visited from the search results. Each item is presented in a card format, including the favicon, query or page name, date, time, and domain and offers quick actions like Save, Share, and Delete. Tapping '[x] items' conveniently provides a full 'History' list; according to Google, this is a bit faster than navigating through the account menu.
- Saved items: This section consolidates all your 'All saved items' into a carousel view, encompassing websites, images, products, Google Maps listings, movies, and TV shows. Making it super easy to re-discover content.
- Collections: Allows you to view both default and custom groupings of your Saved items, enhancing organization of your digital finds.
If you crave the original Activity tab layout, you can still access it via 'Saves & Collections' in the account menu. Google has also toned down the square Daily Listen card in the Home tab’s space carousel, swapping the blue background for a subtle outline, matching the design language of its AI Search Mode.
Ultimately, Google’s 'Activity' tab aims to provide users with a centralized area to manage their digital footprint. By synchronizing with the Web & App Activity feature, it simplifies how users handle their online identities and interests. With version 16.19 of the Google app being pushed out, many users in the stable channel can start experiencing this integrated experience.
Why should you care?
In an era where digital overwhelm is a real concern, the 'Activity' tab offers a practical, user-friendly hub for efficiently managing your online interactions. It aligns with Google’s ongoing efforts to improve user experience and data accessibility while enhancing efficiency. Think of it as a digital command center that puts you firmly in control.
