Google’s NotebookLM Goes Mobile: AI-Powered Research at Your Fingertips
Google has just launched its NotebookLM app on both iOS and Android, bringing its advanced AI-powered research and note-taking capabilities to mobile devices. This move addresses a frequent request from the millions of users already leveraging NotebookLM's ability to understand and engage with complex information.

Originally launched in 2023, NotebookLM functions as an AI research companion. It helps users analyze and interact with documents, websites, and other content by generating summaries, creating FAQ lists, producing timeline views, and even transforming research materials into podcast-style audio discussions. With the new mobile app, these features are now accessible on the go.
One of the app's key features is offline access to Audio Overviews. This impressive feature allows users to download AI-generated podcast-style summaries of their project sources for listening offline, perfect for commutes or areas with limited connectivity. Background playback support allows for seamless multitasking while staying informed.
The iOS version takes interactivity a step further. Users can now directly engage with the app's AI-powered hosts by tapping "Join," enabling them to ask clarifying questions, change the direction of a summary, or even toss in an offbeat query. Sharing content has also become easier, with users able to add websites, PDFs, or YouTube videos as sources directly from the share sheet.
According to Google, they plan to expand the range of supported input types over time. The mobile app includes many of the core features of the desktop version, with plans for further refinements and features in the coming months. TechCrunch highlights the app's light and dark mode, which automatically adjusts based on the device's system settings.
Whether you're a student, professional, or simply someone who deals with a lot of information, the NotebookLM app promises to be a valuable tool for understanding anything, anywhere. It is now available on the App Store for iPhone and iPad and the Play Store for Android devices.
