GTA 6 Delay Rumors Swirl as Trailer 2 Absence Raises Concerns
The burning question on every gamer's mind: Will GTA 6 face a delay? Despite the monumental hype following the debut trailer in December 2023, the continued absence of a second trailer is fueling speculation among eager fans. With the game slated for a 2025 release, the clock is ticking, and anxieties are rising.
The concern stems from the fact that it has been roughly 16 months since the first and only trailer, leaving many to wonder if the ambitious project is facing unforeseen hurdles.

Adding fuel to the fire, old posts from ex-Rockstar employee Obbe Vermeij have resurfaced, stirring the pot of potential delays. Vermeij suggested that the decision to delay a Grand Theft Auto title is typically made relatively close to the initial launch date. Vermeij wrote on X (formerly Twitter) that the decision to delay GTA IV was made 4 months or so before the original release date.
With April nearing its end and no sign of Trailer 2, some fans are interpreting the silence as a potential harbinger of bad news. "If they delay it better show something like gameplay or give us something," wrote on user on Reddit.
Despite the swirling anxieties, there's a glimmer of optimism among some fans. One Reddit user speculated that the game was originally supposed to be spring 2025, then went on to the say, "everything they've done so far has been completely different from their previous releases. So it’s not insane to think the delay trend might also change. However, of course, a delay is always a possibility."
Meanwhile, the first GTA 6 trailer continues to break milestones, most recently with YouTube now allows users to select GTA 6 as the game category. The trailer also surpassed 250 million views 16 months after release, and 1 million comments have been left on the video.
Vermeij noted something else specific from the GTA 4 production process. The former Rockstar developer speculates that, if GTA 6 were to be delayed, Rockstar would potentially make the call within a similar proximity to the originally allocated launch date.
Rockstar's commitment to quality is legendary. Any delay, while disappointing, would likely be in service of delivering a polished and unforgettable gaming experience. Some experts predict we'll know more around Take-Two's August earnings report.
