Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Dominates US Sales Charts After PS5 Launch, But Fails to Crack Top 15 Most-Played Games
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has taken the US by storm, topping the weekly sales charts after its PlayStation 5 launch. According to Circana's Mat Piscatella, the PS5 version propelled the game to the number one spot for the week ending April 19th. This marks the first time the title has achieved this milestone, despite its initial release in December 2024 for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Xbox Game Pass.
"Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was the best-selling video game in the US during week ending April 19th, following its PS5 launch," Piscatella stated. "It was the first time the title reached #1 on the weekly charts (of course, the XBS and PC versions launched last December)."
He further emphasized that the overwhelming majority of sales during that week came from the PS5 version.

Adding to the excitement, Alinea analyst Rhys Elliott reports that the PS5 version of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is selling 28% faster than the Steam and Xbox versions. Within less than a week, the PS5 edition shifted 117.2K copies compared to Steam's 91.2K during the same period.
Elliott notes, however, that the majority of Xbox players likely accessed the game through Xbox Game Pass, negating the need to purchase the title outright. Alinea estimates that The Great Circle has been played by approximately five million players on Xbox.

The PS5 version boasts enhanced features like DualSense compatibility, providing visual cues for enemy awareness, as well as “frictionless loading” and “selective installation” to prioritize system language and SSD optimization. The game also comes with a PS5 Pro enhanced label, promising higher and more consistent framerates with native 4K resolution and improved ray tracing.
Despite its sales success, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle failed to break into the top 15 most-played games in the US during its launch week, according to Circana. Piscatella suggests that this may be due to the dominance of live-service games in the current console landscape. "The big live-service games are sucking the air out of the market," he explained.
While Call of Duty: HQ reigned supreme on PlayStation and Xbox in terms of weekly active users, Marvel Rivals, Counter-Strike 2, and REPO led the charts on Steam in the US, Canada, and Mexico, respectively.
Developed by MachineGames, known for the Wolfenstein series, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has seemingly revitalized the franchise. What's next for Indy? Lucasfilm has hinted at the possibility of future Indiana Jones games, leaving fans eagerly awaiting more adventures. Will the success of the PS5 launch pave the way for further installments?
