Infinity Nikki Plunges into Chaos: Update 1.5 Triggers Player Revolt and Apologies
Infinity Nikki, the popular open-world dress-up game, has found itself in hot water after a disastrous update. Version 1.5, dubbed "Bubble Season," was intended to add new content and features, but instead, it unleashed a torrent of bugs, story retcons, and controversial monetization tactics, leaving players furious and the developers scrambling to repair the damage.
The update, released in late April, was immediately met with backlash. Gamers reported a slew of technical issues, including the game being unplayable on PS5 and numerous crashes. Beyond the technical hiccups, players also criticized the developer, Infold Games, for altering the game's established lore and implementing what many perceived as predatory monetization schemes. The outcry was so intense that the game's Steam reviews plummeted, branding the update a "mostly negative" experience.

In response to the overwhelming criticism, Infold Games issued an apology, acknowledging the significant impact of these issues on player experience and trust. The developer stated on social media: "We're acutely aware that these recent issues have impacted your experience and damaged the trust and affection you've placed in us. To all stylists, we offer our deepest apologies."
The studio further explained that they had faced unprecedented challenges during development, particularly in optimizing the game across various devices. Rather than communicate prematurely, they chose to tackle problems methodically. However, they assured players that their feedback had been heard. In an attempt to rectify the situation, Infold has extended the "Bubble Season" event until June 12, 2025, aligning the end date with the launch of Version 1.6. This extension affects several in-game events and store items, providing players with more time to engage with the content. Compensation is also being offered in the form of in-game Diamonds and Energy Crystals, along with Starlit Crystals as compensation, which can be redeemed for various items.
Despite these efforts, some players remain unconvinced. A Reddit post, gaining significant traction, accused Infold of continuing to ignore players and allowing server quality to decline. The post calls for a player boycott, urging players to abstain from logging in, playing, and spending money on the game if the developers fail to address the issues by May 18. The movement, dubbed "#girlout," aims to organize large-scale protests and demonstrate the community's discontent. One Steam review called the developers “greedy” and labelled the game “a buggy mess”.

Infold's response has included the launch of a new initiative called Miraland Round Table, allowing players to share feedback directly with the development team via email and in-game customer service. The company stated that all collected input will be compiled and addressed, with key issues receiving direct responses.
Can Infold Games salvage the situation and regain the trust of its player base? Only time will tell. The future of Infinity Nikki hangs in the balance as the developer races against the clock to fix the game, appease disgruntled players, and restore the enchantment that initially captivated its audience.
