Infinity Nikki’s Rocky Steam Launch: Boycotts, Mixed Reviews, and Freebies Galore

Infinity Nikki, the highly anticipated fashion gacha RPG, has experienced a rollercoaster of a launch on Steam. While the game is finally available on the platform, it's been met with a wave of controversy, technical issues, and, surprisingly, some freebies to ease the pain. From player boycotts to mixed reviews, the game's debut has been anything but smooth.

The initial wave of outrage stemmed from changes implemented in the game's latest update. According to reports, developer Infold Games increased the number of pieces per outfit to 11, effectively doubling the pity system to 220 wishes per banner. This decision sparked fury among players, particularly within the Chinese community, who swiftly organized boycotts across various social media platforms like Red Note.

Adding fuel to the fire, the developers also extended the Mira Crown fashion event duration without providing a clear explanation. The Infinity Nikki subreddit became a hub for coordinated boycott efforts, with players demanding a rollback of the increased pity system and greater transparency from Infold Games.

The Chinese player base took their protest to the Steam forums, flooding the platform with warnings to potential newcomers. Threads with titles like "Avoid Infinity Nikki! A rushed, greedy, and disappointing game!" and "DO NOT GET! THIS GAME MAKES YOU UNFORTUNATE" became commonplace, highlighting the depth of dissatisfaction within the community.

Beyond the community backlash, Infinity Nikki's Steam launch has also been plagued with technical difficulties. Players have reported crashes, inability to load into servers, and issues related to Linux compatibility, resulting in a "mixed" reception on the platform. One user lamented, "The game crashes when I try to open it. I tried several times, but it crashes at different points. I haven't been able to come far enough to join a server."

Despite the rocky start, Infold Games is attempting to appease players with some freebies. To celebrate the arrival of Version 1.5, "Bubble Season," the developer has released four new codes that grant a total of 12 free gacha pulls. These codes provide valuable resources like Revelation Crystals, Diamonds, Shiny Bubbles, and Threads of Purity, offering players a better chance at acquiring their favorite limited-time outfits.

Here are the codes players can redeem:

- 100 Diamonds, 100 Shiny Bubbles, 100 Threads of Purity

- 100 Diamonds, 100 Shiny Bubbles, 100 Threads of Purity

Players can redeem these codes within the game's settings or through the brand-new code redemption website.

Will the promise of free gacha pulls be enough to smooth over the launch issues and appease the disgruntled player base? Or will this be remembered as a cautionary tale of a hyped launch gone wrong? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
