Intel’s Next-Gen Graphics: Xe3 ‘Celestial’ GPUs Reach Pre-Validation, Debunking Cancellation Rumors

The buzz around Intel's graphics card roadmap is intensifying as the next-generation Xe3 'Celestial' GPUs have reportedly entered the pre-silicon validation stage. This news, surfacing from employee LinkedIn profiles, suggests that Intel is making significant progress in its pursuit of high-performance discrete graphics, potentially silencing rumors of the architecture's cancellation.

According to data miner Haze, recent findings point towards Intel reaching a crucial milestone in Xe3 development. A key aspect of this pre-silicon phase involves hardware emulation, allowing Intel and its partners to fine-tune the design through software models and emulators before committing to actual silicon production. One profile specifically mentions, "Developed pre-silicon HW modeling for power management IP in Intel Xe3 architecture for discrete GPU Celestial team (C/C++)." Another highlighted the development of "low-level system software and device drivers in C++ for Intel's Nova Lake & Xeon6 (Diamond Rapids) CPUs and Celestial discrete GPU."

These developments indicate that the firmware and power management systems are being meticulously prepared, enabling Intel's partners to conduct virtual testing. The goal is to iron out any kinks and ensure everything functions as intended before moving to the tapeout phase, the final step before fabrication.

Intel Fellow Tom Petersen had previously confirmed the completion of the Xe3 architecture back in December 2024, adding fuel to the excitement. All of this suggests the launch of **Celestial discrete GPUs** is imminent. The GPU roadmap still appears to be on schedule, and gamers and enthusiasts could potentially see these cards in their hands within the next 12 to 18 months, assuming there are no major hiccups in design or production.

While details surrounding the Celestial GPUs remain tightly guarded, the progress signals Intel's ongoing commitment to competing in the discrete graphics market. The company is rumored to be exploring advanced technologies like its in-house Xe3P architecture and potentially even GDDR7 memory.

The recent pre-validation news is particularly noteworthy given the uncertainty surrounding the **Battlemage** series. While the B580 and B570 Battlemage GPUs have received positive feedback, information about higher-end Battlemage cards using the BMG-G31 silicon remains scarce.

The pre-silicon validation stage means Intel has not yet produced actual silicon chips at the factory, but preparations are underway to support the GPUs once they become available.

The reports solidify the idea that Intel is pushing forward with Celestial discrete GPUs, and a leaked timeline for Intel Celestial development confirms that.

Is this a sign that Intel is poised to make a significant impact on the high-end GPU market? What features are you most hoping to see in the Celestial series? Share your thoughts and expectations in the comments below!
