iPhone Users to Get Pixel’s AI Photo Editing Magic: Google Photos Turns 10!
Google Photos is celebrating its 10th anniversary by bringing some of its coolest AI-powered photo editing features, previously exclusive to Pixel smartphones, to both Android and iPhone users. This means even if you're an iPhone user, you'll soon be able to tap into some impressive AI capabilities.
If you're a Google Photos user, which many are due to its popularity as a storage solution, you're about to gain access to some neat new features designed to be quick and easy to use. According to Google's blog post, a redesigned editor is launching that provides helpful suggestions and puts all powerful editing tools in one place. The editor uses AI-powered suggestions to combine multiple effects for quick edits, or can tap specific parts of an image to get suggested tools for editing that area.

Two standout features are Reimagine and Auto Frame, initially featured on the Pixel 9. Reimagine utilizes generative AI to alter backgrounds or specific objects in photos based on text prompts. Imagine turning a mundane sidewalk into 'piles of freshly fallen leaves' or swapping a cloudy sky for clear blue skies. Auto Frame employs generative AI to automatically crop, expand, rotate, and realign photos, effectively creating a new image.

Alongside these AI tools, Google is updating the Google Photos interface and introducing a new way to share photo albums. You can now generate a QR code that allows others to view or add photos to a specific album, simplifying sharing at group events or with friends nearby.
Android users will be the first to receive these updates, with the rollout scheduled to begin next month (June). iPhone users will have to wait a bit longer, with Google aiming for a release sometime later this year.
Other than the new editor and sharing feature, Google also provides 10 tips and tricks for the 10 year anniversary of Google Photos, including revisiting the places you've traveled, create highlight videos and free up space on your device. These tips will further assist Google Photos users in experiencing the AI to the fullest.
Will these Pixel-exclusive features finally entice iPhone users to switch to Google Photos for their photo storage and editing needs? What creative background transformations will users come up with using the new Reimagine tool? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
