Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra Faces Delay, Now Expected in Early 2026
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, the highly anticipated game from Skydance New Media led by Amy Hennig, has been delayed from its original 2025 release window. Fans will now have to wait until early 2026 to experience this World War II-era adventure featuring iconic heroes like Captain America and Black Panther.
Skydance New Media announced the delay, stating, "We have an important update: Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra will now be launching in early 2026. Taking this additional time will allow us to add more polish, and make sure we give you the best possible experience, and one that lives up to our vision." The announcement, posted on X, promises exciting things to come and hints at future reveals.

The game was first revealed in 2022 and generated significant buzz due to its compelling narrative and impressive visuals showcased in the cinematic story trailer. Set in 1943, the game features a unique storyline that brings together a young Steve Rogers (Captain America) and Azzuri, the grandfather of T'Challa (Black Panther), in occupied Paris. Players will also step into the roles of Gabriel Jones, a US soldier and member of the Howling Commandos, and Nanali, a Wakandan spy, adding depth and perspective to the narrative.
Despite the delay, anticipation remains high. The game is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 and utilizes MetaHuman Animator to achieve authentic character performances. The voice cast includes Drew Moerlein as Captain America, Khary Payton as Black Panther, Marque Richardson as Gabriel Jones, Megalyn Echikunwoke as Nanali, and Joel Johnstone as Howard Stark, promising a rich and immersive audio experience.
The delay allows Amy Hennig and her team to further refine the game and deliver a polished experience. The team aims to ensure that the final product lives up to the high expectations set by its pedigree and unique premise. It remains to be seen if gameplay footage will be showcased at Summer Game Fest 2025, but fans are eager to get a closer look at the game in action.
Other Marvel games are also in development, including a Blade game from Arkane Lyon and projects from EA centered on Iron Man, Black Panther, and a mystery Marvel title, indicating that the Marvel gaming universe continues to expand.
While the delay is disappointing, the promise of a more polished and engaging experience in early 2026 offers a silver lining. Will the extra development time pay off and deliver the definitive Marvel gaming experience fans are hoping for? Share your thoughts and expectations in the comments below!
