The Unbound Gravel 2025 event has become the unexpected stage for revealing the latest cycling tech. This year, a brand new Specialized gravel bike was spotted beneath the mud, generating buzz among cycling enthusiasts. Thanks to social media leaks, particularly from Specialized-sponsored pro Annika Langvad, we're getting a sneak peek at what appears to be the next-generation Specialized Diverge.
It's been five years since Specialized updated its hugely popular Diverge, so the timing seems right for a refresh. While details remain scarce, the spotted bike offers intriguing clues about its features and capabilities.
Key Observations:
- Future Shock: It appears that Specialized is sticking with its proprietary Future Shock suspension technology. This feature aims to provide a smoother ride by soaking up bumps before they reach the rider's hands. It's unclear whether this is the same Future Shock 3.0 found on the Roubaix or an updated version.
- UDH Compatibility: The frame is confirmed to be SRAM Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) compatible, suggesting that it can accommodate SRAM's Transmission style groupsets.
