Get ready, Nintendo fans! The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch on June 5th, and alongside it comes exciting news for owners of classic Switch titles. While some major titles like Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Party Jamboree will get full-fledged Switch 2 Editions upgrades, numerous other games will receive free enhancements!
Nintendo has revealed which legacy Switch titles will benefit from these free upgrades, promising a smoother and more visually appealing experience on the new console. These aren't just minor tweaks; they're designed to optimize gameplay on the Switch 2's hardware.
Here's a rundown of the games receiving the upgrade treatment:
- ARMS: Visual upgrades including resolution, frame rates, and HDR.
- Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain: GameShare for up to four players with local and online GameChat sharing.
- Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker: Visual upgrades (resolution and HDR) and GameShare (two players in all courses, local/online GameChat sharing).
- Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics: GameShare (up to four players can play 34 games, local/online GameChat sharing).
- Game Builder Garage: Visual upgrades (resolution), Joy-Con 2 mouse control.
- New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe: Visual upgrades (resolution).
- Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet: Visual upgrades (resolution, frame rates). This is particularly welcome news, as these titles sometimes struggled with performance on the original Switch.
- Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury: Visual upgrades (resolution, frame rates, and HDR), GameShare (up to four players in Super Mario 3D World, two players in Bowser's Fury and local/online GameChat sharing).
- Super Mario Odyssey: Visual upgrades (resolution, frame rates), GameShare (two players, local/online GameChat sharing).
- The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom: Visual upgrades (resolution, HDR).
- The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening: Visual upgrades (resolution, HDR).
These upgrades bring improved visuals, better frame rates, and even GameShare functionality to select titles. For games like Pokémon Scarlet and Violet and the Link's Awakening remake, these enhancements could make a significant difference, addressing performance issues that plagued the original Switch.
But that's not all for the new console! Gamers are eagerly anticipating new titles, including Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, although Donkey Kong will drop on July 17.
