Nintendo Switch 2 Launch: Retailers Prepare for High Demand, Limited Stock

The much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch, and retailers are bracing for a surge in demand. While pre-orders have been highly sought after, some fans missed out. Fortunately, major retailers like Best Buy and GameStop are planning to offer additional units on launch day, but supplies will be limited.

GameStop has announced that additional Switch 2 units will be available both in-store and online on June 5, 2025. They will also host a launch event, beginning in-store on June 4 at 3 PM local time, with console pickups starting at 12 AM EST / 9 PM PST. "Didn't pre-order? Additional Switch 2 units will be available in-store and online at launch while supplies last," GameStop stated on social media.

Best Buy will also have limited inventory of systems, games, and accessories available for in-store purchase after midnight on June 5. They even plan to offer a Nintendo collectible with purchase. However, Best Buy has cautioned customers to expect long lines, and not everyone in line will be guaranteed a console.
