Notion Deepens AI Integration with New Meeting Transcription and Enterprise Search Features

Notion is intensifying its focus on AI integration, aiming to redefine productivity with the rollout of its new AI Meeting Notes feature. This launch positions Notion to compete directly with specialized AI notetakers like Granola and established productivity suites offering similar functionalities. The move aims to transform Notion into a comprehensive workspace, potentially rivaling tech giants like Google and Microsoft.

The newly introduced AI-powered meeting notetaking feature transcribes meetings and provides succinct summaries, mirroring functionalities found in Granola. The utility transcribes meetings, offering summaries and note-taking options. This will enable users to capture key discussion points and action items seamlessly.

The steps to start using it are fairly straightforward. Users can initiate the AI notetaker by typing "/meet" on any Notion page. The system emphasizes obtaining consent from all participants before initiating the tool to guarantee user privacy and compliance.

Enterprise Search also makes its debut which allows to search across Notion and connected applications like Slack and Google Workspace. This feature streamlines information retrieval by allowing users to ask natural language questions, exemplified by the query, "What's the latest on our upcoming brand campaign?" This is intended to save time.

Alongside these enhancements, Research Mode offers users the ability to generate extensive reports with AI assistance. By extracting data from both the Notion workspace and external sources, this tool streamlines the creation of shareable documents, promising significant time savings.

Notion is adjusting its pricing structure for AI features. Unlimited access to Notion AI will now be included in the Business plan, which is increasing from $15 to $20 per member per month. The package includes access to models like GPT-4.1 and Claude 3.7

Notion's intensified push into AI-driven productivity tools is set to redefine how users interact with their workspaces. With improved features and tools such as transcribing and enterprise search and research, the question remains: Will these improvements justify the changes and increase in pricing for existing Notion users?
