Oblivion Remastered: Bethesda’s Best Kept Secrets and a Hilarious Viral Easter Egg
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is making waves, boasting over four million players already. But, it seems Bethesda has been holding back a few secrets from players. Beyond the updated visuals and refined gameplay, hidden gems and easter eggs are waiting to be discovered. What exactly has Bethesda kept under wraps?
While the remaster stays true to the beloved original, eagle-eyed players like Jim Trinca have noticed subtle changes and additions. One major discovery is the completely new way to pick locks, while easter eggs include new tributes to cut content.

But the biggest surprise may be the inclusion of an incredibly neat easter egg referencing one of the nerdiest viral videos of the early 2010s: Potion Seller. The obscure video from Justin Kuritzkes—now known for writing recent movies Challengers and Queer—has made a splash in Oblivion Remastered.
If you're unfamiliar, "Potion Seller" is a meme featuring a knight and a potion seller, complete with goofy face distortions. The video has amassed nearly 13 million views and has clearly left its mark on internet culture.
Twitch streamer TerraGuildTV uncovered a brand-new console command tucked away in the game referencing this very meme. The command, "Altar.Player.PotionSellerGiveMeYourStrongestPotions," isn't subtle. The description says, "Powers the player up with the means of defeating the Romans coming to conquer the last free village of Gaul. 'Have you heard of my potions? …My potions are too strong for you, traveler.'"

The first part of the easter egg seems to be a bonus reference made by French studio Virtuous (who co-developed the remaster) to Asterix the Gaul—a French comic and series of movies about the titular Asterix who keeps the village safe from Roman rule.
Activating the console command gives your character a super-strong punch that sends enemies flying. Bethesda calls the Remaster a way to "modernize the 2006 Game of the Year with all new stunning visuals and refined gameplay." This extends to modern memes as well.
Oblivion Remastered offers a complete story experience, including the original release and the story expansions Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine, and additional downloadable content such as Fighter’s Stronghold , Spell Tomes and others
