Oblivion Remastered: Why Players are Regretting Throwing Away THIS Item!

Oblivion Remastered is bringing both veteran and new players back to the world of Cyrodiil. But some newcomers are making a critical mistake right at the start - discarding their wrist shackles! Why is this seemingly useless item so important?

The game begins with the player as a prisoner escaping with the Emperor. Many instinctively want to shed their prisoner garb, including those shackles. This is a mistake, long time players say. Unlike Skyrim, Oblivion Remastered lacks a deep smithing system, making armor choices limited. But the shackles aren't armor, they're clothing.

In Oblivion Remastered, the wrist shackles fall into a special clothing category, technically gloves, and crucially, they are the only ones that count as clothing, not armor. In Oblivion, armor reduces spell effectiveness. So, spellcasters want to avoid it. This leaves players with only one clothing option for a fully enchanted outfit, the shackles!

Also, clothing is lighter than armor, allowing for faster movement. Many players prefer clothing to avoid being overencumbered, making the shackles a key part of that strategy. Enchanted shackles offer protection without the heavy armor. Wait to enchant them until you have more powerful Transcendant Sigil Stones that appears on higher levels for best effect.

What if you already threw them away? Don't worry, all hope is not lost. Shackles aren’t common shop items. However, you can steal another pair from jail in most cities. A second set is also available in the Addiction Main Quest in Felldew Den. Most extra shackles were added via DLC, so the Shivering Isles might be a good bet to get a replacement set.

Beyond the shackles, there's more to appreciate, one player writes "It's great, and the remastered touches bridge the gap between past and present with modern conveniences. Every single sidequest I've started since becoming the hero of Kvatch in the remaster is new to me, which tells me that I had no idea how to properly enjoy these games when I was younger."

One player admitted feeling "shame? Frustration? Regret, maybe?" for focusing on the Fallout franchise while neglecting Oblivion and the Elder Scrolls series. Even newcomers are finding the game compelling, even without nostalgia. Its design more than makes up for dated gameplay.
