Overwatch 2 Collides with Street Fighter 6: A Knockout Collaboration
Overwatch 2 is delivering a flurry of punches and kicks with its latest collaboration, partnering with the iconic fighting game franchise Street Fighter 6. This crossover marks a significant milestone, being the first time Blizzard has integrated with a video game IP outside its own universe. Fans are buzzing with excitement over the new skins, emotes, and the fusion of two beloved worlds.

The collaboration, which went live on May 20, features eight new skins that transform Overwatch 2 heroes into recognizable Street Fighter 6 characters. Legendary Juno steps into the ring as Chun-Li, Kiriko embodies the swiftness of Juri, and Widowmaker takes on the guise of Cammy. Hanzo channels Ryu, Zenyatta finds inner peace as Dhalsim, Soldier: 76 becomes Guile, Winston hulks out as Blanka, and Sigma taps into Psycho Power as M. Bison. Available through various bundles and individual purchases, these skins are sure to be a hit with players from both communities.
Overwatch Art Director Dion Rogers and former Character Art Director Arnold Tsang shared insights into the creative process. They emphasized how the team approached the designs as if the Overwatch heroes were cosplaying as their favorite Street Fighter counterparts. This approach influenced character choices, focusing on vibes and overall compatibility rather than strict adherence to lore.
"It felt so natural because a lot of these characters from Street Fighter were on my mind when designing some of these heroes. It's almost like something I've always wanted to do, and suddenly I finally had the opportunity to do it," said Tsang, highlighting the deep-rooted influence of Street Fighter on Overwatch. He further explained how the team's shared love for the franchise, showcased in lunch break tournaments and even Evo participation, fueled their enthusiasm for the project.

The collaboration extends beyond just skins. Players can also participate in event challenges to unlock exclusive cosmetics, further immersing themselves in the Street Fighter-inspired world. While there were talks of even more integrated elements, such as Hanzo's Ryu-inspired Hadoken emote inflicting damage, these ideas were ultimately scrapped to avoid potential gameplay imbalances.
Alongside the Street Fighter 6 crossover, Overwatch 2 is also rolling out Season 16 midseason updates including the Mythic Merciful Magitech Mercy Weapon Skin. This magical skin transforms Mercy’s Caduceus Staff and Blaster with radiant Magitech might. Customization option are available across four magical tiers, bringing Mercy's Hero of Heart legacy to life. This skin is available starting now.
The team is also bringing Stadium back with a number of updates and Stadium Trials, new “quest”-style system that will introduce random objectives and bonus rewards, plus, they’ll be debuting Payload Race, a new mode with two new maps to ramp up the action with race-to-the-finish chaos.
With a new update on an Overwatch Classic era in the latest throwback event and a month of Pride 2025, Overwatch aims to expand what Overwatch 2 can be—More heroic. More strategy. More ways to forge your victory.
