Persona 4 Remake Leaked? Voice Actor Yuri Lowenthal Suggests Project Exists, But He’s Not Involved

Is a Persona 4 remake on the horizon? All signs point to yes, and it may have just been unofficially confirmed by a rather unexpected source: Yuri Lowenthal, the voice actor for Yosuke Hanamura in the original Persona 4. In a recent social media post, Lowenthal revealed that he will not be reprising his role in the rumored remake.

"And for those who keep asking, no, I will not be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake," Lowenthal posted on Bluesky. "I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don’t want me to come back." This seemingly offhand comment has sent the gaming community into a frenzy, as it serves as the strongest indication yet that Atlus is indeed working on a remake of the beloved RPG.

Rumors of a Persona 4 Remake have been circulating for some time now, especially after the successful launch of Persona 3 Reload earlier this year. Given the popularity of Persona 4 and the visual and mechanical updates that were applied in Persona 3 Reload, it seems logical that Atlus would follow suit with its predecessor.

The decision to recast Lowenthal, however, is generating mixed reactions. While Persona 3 Reload also featured a completely new voice cast, some fans hoped that at least some of the original actors from Persona 4 would return. As one source notes, "P4's voice cast was a lot stronger altogether, so you might think Atlus would be more open to bringing some of them back. I guess the studio is set on getting younger talent in."

Yuri Lowenthal's Bluesky post seemingly confirms Persona 4 remake

Atlus has not yet officially confirmed the Persona 4 Remake, and has not responded to requests for comment. It remains to be seen how significantly the remake will deviate from the original, and who will be cast as the new voice of Yosuke. What is clear, however, is that the project is indeed in development.

Will this remake capture the magic of the original while adding the modern touches fans crave? Only time will tell. What are your thoughts on a potential Persona 4 Remake and the recasting of voice actors? Share your opinions in the comments below!
