Persona 4 Remake Leaked? Voice Actor Yuri Lowenthal’s Cryptic Post Sparks Frenzy

Is a Persona 4 Remake finally on the horizon? A cryptic social media post by Yuri Lowenthal, the voice actor for Yosuke Hanamura in the original Persona 4, has sent the gaming community into a frenzy. While Atlus, the developer, remains tight-lipped, Lowenthal's apparent frustration over not being asked to reprise his role has fueled speculation and excitement for a potential remake.

Lowenthal, known for his roles as Spider-Man in various games and Mylo in Arcane, took to Bluesky to express his disappointment. "For those who keep asking, no, I will not be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake," he stated. "I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don’t want me to come back." This seemingly off-the-cuff remark has been widely interpreted as a confirmation that a remake is indeed in development.

A Bluesky post by Yuri Lowenthal, reading "And for those who keep asking, no, I will not be returning as Yosuke for the Persona 4 remake. I asked. Maybe I even begged, but they don't want me to come back."
Lowenthal's Bluesky post ignited the remake speculations.

The possibility of a Persona 4 Remake has been a long-standing desire among fans, especially after the successful remake of Persona 3 Reload. The success of Persona 3 Reload, which became Atlus's fastest-selling game, has further fueled expectations for a similar treatment for its predecessor.

However, Lowenthal isn't the only original voice actor seemingly being overlooked. Erin Fitzgerald, the voice of Chie Satonaka, has also indicated she hasn't been contacted about reprising her role, according to Gamesradar.

While a Persona 4 Golden remaster already exists on PC, offering enhanced visuals and gameplay, a full-fledged remake would undoubtedly provide a more comprehensive overhaul. The original Persona 4, with its compelling storyline and memorable characters, remains a beloved title in the JRPG genre.

The decision to potentially recast the voice actors is a point of contention. While Persona 3 Reload featured an entirely new voice cast, some believe that Persona 4's voice acting was already strong, particularly for Yosuke. Whether Atlus is aiming for a fresh start with younger talent remains to be seen.

Atlus has yet to officially address the rumors of a Persona 4 Remake. We've reached out to Sega, Atlus' parent company, for comment and will update this article if we receive a response.

Is a Persona 4 Remake truly necessary? While Persona 4 Golden exists, a full remake could introduce the game to a new generation of players and offer significant gameplay improvements. The potential for a revitalized version of this classic JRPG is undeniably exciting.
