For the first time ever in Pokémon GO, these legendary warriors can transform using a brand-new energy source. The Crowned Forms Arrive
During Pokémon GO Fest 2025, Zacian and Zamazenta will gain the ability to change into their Crowned Sword and Crowned Shield forms. This transformation isn't just for show; it grants them access to signature moves that can turn the tide of battle. Behemoth Blade for Crowned Sword Zacian and Behemoth Bash for Crowned Shield Zamazenta are game-changers.
Harnessing Crowned Energy
To unlock these formidable forms, trainers will need Crowned Sword Energy and Crowned Shield Energy. Early access to this energy will be available through branching Special Research at the in-person Pokémon GO Fest events in Osaka, Jersey City, and Paris. For global players, the exciting news is that starting with Pokémon GO Fest 2025: Global, trainers can earn this energy by defeating Crowned Sword Zacian or Crowned Shield Zamazenta in Raid Battles, or by completing ticketed Special Research.
Transforming your Pokémon requires 1,000 Crowned Sword Energy for Zacian and 1,000 Crowned Shield Energy for Zamazenta, provided they know the Charged Attack Iron Head. Once transformed, Zacian's Iron Head becomes Behemoth Blade, and Zamazenta's Iron Head converts to Behemoth Bash. The best part? After the initial transformation, you can switch between forms as many times as you want without using additional energy. Just remember, while in their Crowned forms, Zacian and Zamazenta cannot be traded or transferred to Pokémon HOME.
Max Battles Get a Legendary Boost
Adding to the excitement, Crowned Sword Zacian and Crowned Shield Zamazenta will have the exclusive ability to join Max Battles, despite not being able to Dynamax or Gigantamax! This gives trainers a whole new way to utilize these powerful Pokémon. You can level up Behemoth Blade and Behemoth Bash, just like other Max Attacks, and even unlock Guard and Spirit moves. Trainers who unlock Guard on their Crowned Shield Zamazenta may discover an additional hidden power. Intriguing, isn't it?
Prepare for Raids and More
Zacian and Zamazenta will be appearing in Five-Star Raids during Pokémon GO Fest, starting with the in-person events. The global event on June 28th and 29th will further amplify the experience, also introducing the Mythical Pokémon Volcanion for the first time!
