Resident Evil 4 Remake Shatters Records, RE9 Teased?
Resident Evil 4 Remake has achieved a phenomenal milestone, selling over 10 million copies faster than any other title in the franchise. This remarkable feat underscores Capcom's successful long-term sales strategy and the enduring popularity of the Resident Evil series.
The announcement, made by Capcom, reveals that the game surpassed this milestone as of December 31st last year. This means it reached 10 million sales in under two years, since its initial release in March 2023 for PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

But that's not all! Eagle-eyed fans have spotted a potential tease for Resident Evil 9 hidden within a celebratory video released by Capcom. A wooden sign from the game, when turned on its side, appears to spell out "IX", the Roman numeral for nine. This subtle hint, first noticed by Resident Evil insider 'Dust Golem,' has ignited speculation about the next installment in the series.
Updated sales figures for other Resident Evil titles further highlight the franchise's continued success. Resident Evil 7 (2017) and Resident Evil 2 Remake (2019) have both reached 15 million units sold. Resident Evil 3 Remake (2020) and Resident Evil Village (2021) stand strong at 10 million and 11 million units respectively.

With the Resident Evil franchise boasting a combined 167 million units sold since its debut in 1996, anticipation is high for what Capcom has in store. While remakes and newer titles are both on the horizon, the potential hint at Resident Evil 9 has fans buzzing about the future of the series.
Could RE9 be a complete reimagining of the franchise, returning to the core elements of city, zombies, and the T-Virus? Only time will tell. But with two years since Resident Evil 4 Remake and four since Village, the timing seems right for a new chapter.
